Electro-rap duo Die Antwoord have been pulled from the Life is Beautiful lineup seemingly over alleged past homophobic comments.

An old video has come back to haunt the South African group, who will now miss one of Las Vegas’ biggest music festivals.

The duo played the event in 2016, but will be missing this year’s festival, which is scheduled to run between Sept. 20 and 23.

At the time of this writing, Life is Beautiful organizers and Die Antwoord had not issued a statement about the cancelled appearance. But “Die Antwoord no longer is listed among the performers on the Life is Beautiful website, nor is the festival listed among Die Antwoord’s tour dates on the group’s website,” writes the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Other festivals have followed suit and dropped Die Antwoord as well, such as Riot Fest in Chicago.

The controversial video shows group members Yolandi Visser and Ninja directing homophobic slurs at and physically assaulting openly gay DJ Andy Butler of Hercules and Love Affair.

Writes Out:

In a YouTube video published by former Die Antwoord videographer Ben Crossman, Ninja is seen spitting in Butler’s face at the 2012 Future Music Festival in Adelaide, Australia. Butler retaliates by throwing a drink and the two end up tussling off-camera. Visser can be heard in the background saying: “f*ggots are fighting, this is so cute” and “look at the f*ggot... run f*ggot run... run for your life, b*tch” when Butler attempts to leave.

After the video surfaced online, Die Antwoord immediately began to lose festival bookings. Ninja responded to the controversy by claiming on Facebook that Crossman had “cleverly edited this video clip to make it seem like me and Yolandi committed a hate crime towards a person because they are gay.” He says Crossman took part in the beating as well and that Butler’s sexuality had nothing to do with the fight.

In the video, the band claims Butler, who has yet to make a statement, sexually assaulted Visser.
